Stags 'giving everything' for success - Anderson

12 August 2017

After scoring in today's 2-0 win at home to Forest Green Rovers, winger Paul Anderson says every member of the Stags' squad is hungry for success.

The former Nottingham Forest man scored the Stags' second goal after frontman Danny Rose had headed home the first goal against EFL newcomers Forest Green Rovers.

And Anderson believes today's 2-0 victory typified how hungry the Stags' players are for success.

"You can see the hunger from the boys; every single lad is here to do exactly the same thing," Anderson said.

"We've all been brought in to get us as high as possible up that league and we all want to be at the top, we want to be winning, we want to get promoted.

"In the second half, it was a great performance, our fitness levels showed and then I think we dominated the whole half again."

"I think you can see the hunger from the boys, the dedication from every single lad; whether they start or come on off the bench they give absolutely everything.

"In the second half, it was a great performance, our fitness levels showed and then I think we dominated the whole half again. It was another great second half performance [with a] clean sheet – perfect."

After scoring his first goal in Stags' colours this afternoon, Anderson expressed his pleasure at opening his account after going close in our opening two fixtures.

"In the last couple of games, the 'keeper's made a good save, I've hit the post, one's hit me on the leg and almost gone in from two yards and you're just waiting for that one to happen and fortunately I played a one-two with the 'keeper and got an easy slot in!

"I'm just trying to put a great performance in every week. I hope the fans can see that and if I can get a few goals and add some assists to my game and give the fans something to cheer about, that's what I'm here to do.

"I'm enjoying my time and the gaffer's been brilliant with me. Every week the lads are slowly learning about each other and the way they play. Week by week, you'll see us learn each others' abilities and put in better performances."
