Debut goal by Watton not enough to see off Leicester City Ladies.
Our ladies team had to settle for a point against Leicester City Ladies in the FA Women’s Premier League, as Laura Watton’s debut goal was cancelled out by a late strike in a 1-1 draw.
After a closely-fought first half, the Stagettes were the better team after the re-start and Jemma Douglas had already gone close with a couple of opportunities, before Watton opened the scoring with around a quarter-of-an-hour left to play.
However, it wasn’t enough as the mid-table Foxes equalised late on to snatch a share of the spoils.
The Stagettes’ next game is in the Nottinghamshire Women’s County Cup next Sunday, when they play host to Eastwood Community Ladies.
