Elliott and Rhys are new Her Game Too advocates

8 March 2024

We are pleased to announce defender Elliott Hewitt and forward Rhys Oates as the club’s new Her Game Too advocates ahead of tomorrow's dedicated fixture at home to Swindon Town (3pm kick-off).

Her Game Too aims to eradicate sexism in football and raise awareness for inclusivity and diversity in sport.

Stags’ duo Hewitt and Oates have agreed to act as advocates for the movement, enforcing the attitude that football is a safe and welcoming environment for females.

On his recently appointed role as the club’s co-advocate for Her Game Too, defender Elliott Hewitt said: “I’m pleased to be named as one of the club’s Her Game Too advocates.

“Football is a game for all and hopefully with mine and Rhys’ involvement, we can help encourage more inclusivity within our sport.”

The Stags’ squad will wear pre-match t-shirts with the Her Game Too logo and #hergametoo printed on them during the warm-up when Swindon visit One Call Stadium tomorrow.

“It’s positive that the club is supporting the movement,” said forward Rhys Oates.

“I think it’s a really encouraging initiative and I’m pleased to be playing a small part by becoming an advocate.”

Saturday’s dedicated Her Game Too fixture coincides with International Women’s Day, which takes place today.
