Mansfield Town under-18s return to action this Saturday in a Youth Alliance League fixture away at Doncaster Rovers (11am kick-off).
Stags are fresh from their Christmas break and face a side which they beat 2-0 earlier in the campaign.
Forward McKeal Abdullah netted a second-half brace on the day.
Upon the youngsters’ return to RH Academy this week, professional development phase lead coach Steve Chettle said: “We’re expecting the boys to find the level that they were at, minus the Hull game.
“We’ve had a good first-half of the season and then we’ve had a nice break.
“We came back to work on Tuesday in preparation for Doncaster on Saturday.”
The coach went on to provide the latest on the group’s fitness following the break.
“We’ve done all our normal tests.
“We’ve done the body fat tests and weight tests. We’ve had a short fitness test in the first couple of days that we’ve been back.
“They’ve all come back in decent shape.
“We’ve now got everybody available minus Jakub [Kruszynski] who is just getting over his hamstring problem.
“We’ll hopefully get Jakub back at the end of this month and then we should have a clean bill of health through the Academy.
“The medical department have worked really hard to get people back and ready for playing again.”
From a tactical perspective the group have worked on another system to potentially use in upcoming matches.
“We’ve tried to work on our shape a little bit.
"Teams watch how we play and have been setting up to combat what we’ve been doing really well.
“We made a couple of little tweaks. We won’t give all our secrets away but we worked on a change of shape as well so we have that adaptability too.”
On the weekend’s opponents, he said: “Last time we played them the game was very competitive.
“We beat them at home 2-0 and I’m sure they’ll be very keen to avenge that result.”
