Mansfield Town’s under 18s will be looking to get back to winning ways against Lincoln City on Saturday morning (11am kick-off).
John Dempster’s youngsters slipped to a 3-1 defeat against Hartlepool United in the North East last week, and getting three points on the board will be vital in their quest to win the league title.
Midfielder Cain Smith gave the Stags a half-time lead, but the hosts came back in the second period to net three times.
The opening day of the season was when the Stags last met the Imps in the league, and nothing could separate the sides on that occasion in August.
Former West Bromwich Albion man Smith’s late penalty handed the Stags a hard-fought 1-1 draw after the Imps had earlier taken the lead at Kirklington Road.
With only three matches remaining, Mansfield are well placed for a high position in the division, and regardless of whether they claim the title, it will have been a successful season for Dempster’s side who the underdogs in the Football League Youth Alliance this season.
They currently sit two points behind leaders Scunthorpe United in the Football League Youth Alliance.
