Mansfield Town under-19s are back in action on Saturday for a Youth Alliance League fixture against Huddersfield Town at Millers Oils High Performance Complex (11am kick-off).
Sam Collins’ side will travel to West Yorkshire in good spirits following last weekend’s superb 2-1 Youth Alliance Cup win against Shrewsbury Town at RH Academy.
Tyler Whyle was one of Stags’ standout performers. After starting the game at centre-back the youngster moved into defensive midfield in the second-half following personnel and tactical changes at half-time and helped his side progress into the next round of the competition.
McKeal Abdullah kept up his fine goalscoring form, giving his side the lead after only three minutes with a composed finish beyond Shrewsbury’s ‘keeper.
Captain Taylor Anderson scored the decisive goal from the penalty spot on 69 minutes.
The Terriers drew 2-2 last time out at home to Farsley Celtic.
