A Mansfield Town XI are in action tomorrow evening for a Notts Senior Cup fixture away to Selston FC at the Parish Hall Ground (7.30pm kick-off).
The Stags will field a side of first-team and under-19s’ players.
Academy manager Richard Cooper will be in charge of the Stags’ squad as a blend of young professionals and youth team regulars aim to progress to the third round of the Notts Senior Cup.
Speaking in a news conference on Tuesday morning at RH Academy, Mansfield manager Nigel Clough provided more information on the game.
“Jason Law could do with a game,” he said.
“I think James Gale [will feature].
“Owen Mason will play.
“Cody Collins is going to come back after injury, him and George Cooper will maybe play 45 [minutes] each.
“In terms of other first-team [players] I don't think we can afford to risk anyone else.”
When asked about the opportunity for some of Stags’ under-19s to test themselves at a senior level, the boss said: “It’s [a] brilliant experience for them.
“We’ve got some good players in there [the Academy] so it's a good test for them.
“I think it helps their development.
“Coops [Richard Cooper] will take it [manage the game] and the first-team staff will be there watching.”
