Mansfield Town wing-back Kellan Gordon is encouraged by Stags’ recent displays and says the team are looking to ‘fine tune’ their performances as we enter a packed programme of fixtures in October.
The 24-year-old has been in the line-up for Stags’ recent wins against Gillingham and Crewe, whilst also starting in Friday’s 2-2 draw at home to Hartlepool.
The ex-Derby man started in Mansfield’s 2-0 loss against Grimsby in the Papa Johns Trophy earlier last month.
And evaluating recent results when speaking to iFollow Stags today, he said: “I think we’ve started fairly well.
“A lot of us would say we could probably be a bit higher in the league but I don't think we’re miles away from where we want to be.
“I feel like we’re playing well as a team and it's just fine tuning [things] now.”
Assessing his own displays and targets he said: “Attacking-wise I think I can bring quite a lot in that [right wing-back] position and I’m enjoying it at the minute.
“I just need to keep it up and keep trying to play well.
“[I'm looking to improve my] End product, my decision making, [I’m] still trying to improve that every day in training.
“I want to start adding a few goals to my game as well. [I’ll] Keep working hard in training and hopefully those [improvements] will come.”
Gordon set up the Stags’ first goal in the 2-2 with Hartlepool on Friday and said: “I think we played very well to be fair [and] created a lot of chances.
“It was a game we obviously thought we were going to win and we felt like we should’ve won so there was a bit of disappointment after the game.
“I thought I played well, created a lot of chances, put a lot of crosses in the box which is my job to do.”
