BBC Radio Nottingham

BBC Radio Nottingham will be providing commentary on Mansfield Town matches for the next three seasons, with 95.5FM becoming radio’s home for Stags’ games. The coverage will begin at Salford tomorrow, with Matchday coming live from the Peninsula Stadium from 2pm.

Having reported on every Stags game for the last five seasons, Jake Garner will take up the microphone to commentate on the matches.

Jake said: “I’m absolutely delighted. The club has welcomed me and made me feel like one of their own since day one, so this is a real honour.  This is a special time for the Stags and I’ll do my best to provide the highest quality coverage on and off the pitch.”

BBC Radio Nottingham’s Sport Editor, Colin Fray, said: “As a radio station, and as a sport department, we’re thrilled to have Mansfield Town commentary back on our airwaves on a regular basis. With the record season-ticket sales, there’s a real excitement surrounding the Stags this season, and we want to reflect that to as many people as we can around the county. Hopefully, Jake will be describing a promotion-winning campaign!”

Mansfield 103.2

Mansfield 103.2 will provide goal updates during league matches.

In a statement 103.2 said: “For over 20 years Mansfield 103.2 have covered Mansfield Town Football Club from reports to full commentary and we’ve loved doing it!

“Now the world has changed and very few radio stations offer football commentary.

“The cost of covering the games continues to increase and technology such as iFollow offers alternative listening and viewing options.

“Following Covid and the Cost of Living Crisis we have had to make a purely economical decision and cut our cloth accordingly.

“We will continue to support the club editorially with goal alerts and reports and we’d like to thank the club for the excellent service over the years from their media and commercial departments.

“Finally, we wish the club all the best for the coming season. We will be backing them all of the way in their strive for promotion.”
