Preview: Sunderland v Stags

4 November 2021

The Stags begin their Emirates FA Cup campaign this Saturday with a trip to Sunderland in the first round of the competition (3pm).

Tickets for the fixture are available from the ticket office at One Call Stadium until 4pm Friday 05 November.

TEAMNEWS2.jpgMansfield will be without a number of players for the trip to the north east. Defender Richard Nartey and midfielder Ryan Stirk are still unavailable due to injury.

James Perch won’t feature for the Stags again this season because of a fractured skull that has seen him sidelined for most of the campaign.

Full-back Stephen McLaughlin is a doubt.

The 31-year-old was taken off in the 2-0 win at home to Tranmere on Saturday due to a hamstring injury.

Defender Elliott Hewitt is also a doubt (foot).

Forward James Gale is cup-tied for the fixture after playing in an earlier stage of the competition for Long Eaton United.

Midfielder George Lapslie is available after missing the previous game due to suspension.

PH-RECENTFORM.jpgThe Stags claimed an emphatic 2-0 victory at home to Tranmere last Saturday. The win ended Mansfield’s lengthy run without a win.

Sunderland are currently fifth in Sky Bet League One. The Black Cats lost 3-0 away to Sheffield Wednesday on Wednesday evening.

PH-LASTTIMEWEMET.jpgThe last time the two teams faced each other was at the same stage in last season’s Emirates FA Cup. The Stags left The Stadium of Light with a 1-0 victory courtesy of a superb George Lapslie goal.

PH-MATCHOFFICIALS.jpgThe referee for Saturday’s game will be James Oldham.

He will be assisted by Richard Wigglesworth, Jonathon Bickerdike and Matthew Dicicco.

Mr. Oldham last officiated in a Mansfield match in January 2020 during a 2-2 draw with Grimsby.

PH-TICKETS.jpgThe Stags have received a total allocation of 3,000 tickets for the trip to The Stadium of Light. Prices are as follows:

Adult (16-64): £12
Senior (65+): £6
Under 16: £6

Tickets go off sale from the ticket office at One Call Stadium at 4pm on Friday 05 November. Any pre-paid tickets can be collected before this time.

Pre-booked tickets can also be collected from the Sunderland ticket office from 1pm until kick-off.

PH-PREMATCH.jpgThe Stadium of Light is located approximately 140 miles away from One Call Stadium and takes around two hours and 37 minutes to reach by car.
