The Stags return to Emirates FA Cup action on Sunday, when they travel to face Cheltenham Town for a third round clash (1.30pm). Here’s all you need to know ahead of the fixture…
Wing-back Kellan Gordon and striker Nicky Maynard will be assessed during Saturday’s training session to see whether they are available for Sunday’s fixture.
Defender Joe Riley is a long-term absentee and will miss out.
For the Robins, midfielder Liam Sercombe is sidelined with a knee injury. They will also likely be without goalkeeper Scott Flinders.
The Stags are in excellent form heading into Sunday’s clash, having won three league matches in a row.
Mansfield performed particularly well in their last two outings, a 4-0 win over Port Vale and a 2-1 victory against Salford on Tuesday night.
The amber and blue saw off Sky Bet League One side Sunderland and National League outfit Dagenham & Redbridge to reach the third round.
Cheltenham present a stern test for the Stags this weekend, with the Robins sitting fourth in Sky Bet League Two heading into the game.
Michael Duff’s men made it to the third round of this season’s Emirates FA Cup by way of a 3-1 win at home against South Shields, followed up by an impressive 2-1 victory over Sky Bet League One Crewe Alexandra.
We last faced Cheltenham in October 2020, a 0-0 draw away from home.
The Stags were last victorious over the Robins in March 2019, a 4-2 win at One Call Stadium.
Tom Nield will be the referee for Sunday’s fixture, assisted by Mark Derrien and Michael Webb. The fourth official will be Lee Swabey.
Mr. Nield last took charge of a Mansfield fixture in our 3-0 defeat to Manchester City under-21s in this season’s Papa John’s Trophy group stage.
