Stags' under-18s begin their EFL Youth Alliance Cup campaign on Saturday, away to Oldham Athletic (11am kick-off).
Mansfield's young guns will be in search of their first win of the campaign after one draw and one defeat in their opening two league matches.
The Stags, though, can take heart from two good performances, despite not achieving victory yet this season.
Saturday's opponents, Oldham, sit fifth in their EFL Youth Alliance League table ahead of the match, having won one and lost one of their opening two fixtures.
In last season's EFL Youth Alliance Cup competition, the Stags placed third of three in their group, level on points with every other team in the standings. With just the first-placed team progressing to the next stage, the under-18s would miss out on goal difference.
Oldham finished top of their group with two wins from two, going on to lose against Grimsby Town on penalties in the competition's quarter-finals.
