Youth preview: Lincoln City vs Stags

11 March 2020

Our under-18s are in action this Saturday when they travel to face Lincoln City (11am kick-off).

This will be the first meeting between the two sides since August, when the match ended all square at the RH Academy.

Despite a strong finish to the game, the young guns were made to settle for a point. After going behind early on in the contest, the amber and blue had to show resolve to grab a point, which they earned through Jimmy Knowles' first-half goal.

Neither team could find the winner in a match that could have swung either way. Mansfield looked the most likely to find the decisive goal towards the dying embers of the match, but the Imps held on for a 1-1 stalemate.

Last weekend, the Stags were beaten by Rotherham United. Goals from George Scott, Ethan Kenny, Luke Hodgkinson and Bolton Makwedza saw the visitors run out as winners.

The Imps also suffered defeat at the weekend, going down 2-0 at home to Burton Albion. This will be their last game of the regular Youth Alliance League season and City must win to avoid finishing bottom.

Supporters are welcome to attend the fixture free of charge at the following venue: Riseholme College, Showground Campus, Horncastle Lane, LN1 27R.
