Reserves preview: Stags vs Peterborough United

6 January 2020

Stags’ reserves are back in Central League Cup action on Tuesday 07 January as they host Peterborough United reserves at The RH Academy (1pm). Here’s our match preview…

Mansfield have played two games in this year’s Central League Cup group stage, losing 4-3 to a strong West Brom side and most recently beating Scunthorpe 2-1.

The clash against the Iron was Stags’ most recent reserve fixture, a victory at The RH Academy that came courtesy of goals from Jason Law and Craig Davies.

The win over Scunthorpe elevated Mansfield to second in the Group 3 table, while Tuesday’s opponents, Peterborough, sit fourth having played a game less.

The Posh also pushed Championship West Brom close in their opening fixture, remarkably losing by the same 4-3 scoreline suffered by the Stags earlier this season.

In league matters, Peterborough sit second in the Central League South table, having won two and lost one of their opening three matches.

Their most emphatic victory came against fellow League One outfit MK Dons, a 4-0 victory away from home.

Entry to Tuesday’s match is free, with the game kicking off at 1pm at the following venue: The RH Academy, Woburn Lane, Mansfield, Notts, NG19 7RT.

The match will take place on one of the grass pitches at The RH Academy.
