Mansfield Town under-18s are back at the RH Academy this Saturday, when they face EFL Youth Alliance League leaders Doncaster Rovers (11am).
The Stags suffered defeat in their most recent outing, as they were beaten 3-0 by Bradford City last Saturday. Youth team coach Mike Whitlow has challenged his charges to bounce back from the loss.
“We want the best performance they can give”, said Whitlow.
“Every week they’ve got to do that. If you want to earn a professional contract you have to do it and that’s what they’re trying to achieve.”
The amber and blue have already faced Rovers on three occasions this season, winning all of the meetings between the two sides.
The last of those came in the first round of the FA Youth Cup on 29 October last year. Rio Molyneaux and Jimmy Knowles both struck twice as the young guns came from behind to progress to the next stage at One Call Stadium.
The visitors go into the clash off the back of two successive victories. The most recent of those came in their 6-2 success away at Huddersfield Town last weekend.
Fans are welcome to attend the clash, which kicks off at 11am, free of charge at the following venue: RH Academy, Woburn Lane, Mansfield, NG19 7RT.
