Youth preview: Scunthorpe United vs Stags

17 February 2020

Mansfield Town under-18s will travel to Lincolnshire on Tuesday 18 February to take on Scunthorpe United in their latest Youth Alliance League clash (1pm).

The Stags will be in action for the first time since a 2-1 defeat to Doncaster Rovers on Saturday 01 February, after last Saturday’s game with Huddersfield Town was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.

The Iron also haven’t played since that date, when they beat Bradford City 2-1 at home. Scunthorpe are a place and two points above the Stags in the Youth Alliance League standings, sitting fourth.

The last time the two sides met, it was the Iron who came out on a top after a 2-1 win at One Call Stadium back in October.

Ryan Ingram had opened the scoring for Mansfield on the half-hour mark after a dominant first half display in Nottinghamshire.

With the final quarter of the game approaching, the Stags looked on course for a well-deserved three points, but they were hit by a late sucker punch as Scunthorpe scored twice in the latter stages to condemn the amber and blue to defeat.

Supporters are welcome to attend the fixture, which kicks-off at 1pm at the following venue: Appleby Frodingham Sports & Social Club, Centenary Way, Scunthorpe, DN16 1AA.
