Preview: Stags vs Scunthorpe United

6 September 2019

Next up for the Stags is a visit from Scunthorpe United on Saturday 07 September (3pm kick-off). Here’s all you need to know ahead of the match…

Team news.png

Midfielder Neal Bishop, who has been recently sidelined with an Achilles injury, could be in contention to feature this weekend, as confirmed by manager John Dempster in Tuesday morning's news conference.

Goalkeeper Bobby Olejnik has returned to full-time training but Saturday’s match will likely come to soon, with the manager expecting the Austrian shot-stopper to be available over the next couple of weeks.

Strikers Craig Davies and Andy Cook will miss the game due to respective ankle and knee injuries. Fellow forward Jordan Graham will also be absent due to a knee injury.

Defender Ryan Sweeney will be available for selection after having his red card against Exeter City rescinded in midweek.

The Iron will likely be without the quartet of Lewis Butroid, Lee Novak, Andy Dales and Levi Sutton, while James Perch is suspended after a recent red card against Cambridge.

Last time out, the Stags were beaten 1-0 away by current league leaders Exeter City at St James Park.

Scunthorpe’s last league outing saw them lose by the same scoreline at home against Carlisle, although they did record a 2-1 victory away to Grimsby on Tuesday evening in the Leasing.com Trophy.

Last time we met.png

We last welcomed the Iron to One Call Stadium last season in a Leasing.com Trophy group stage fixture. Mansfield emerged as 3-2 victors from what was a dramatic affair.
