Youth preview: Stags vs Scunthorpe United

17 October 2019

Our under-18s will be looking to get back to winning ways when they host Scunthorpe United under-18s at One Call Stadium this Saturday (11am kick-off).

This Stags will be hoping to bounce back from last weekend’s 3-1 home defeat to Bradford City.

This result saw the amber and blue lose top spot after they were leapfrogged by Doncaster Rovers, who are now two points ahead of them.

The Iron sit fourth in the league standings and will be looking to record back-to-back victories, after their 2-0 victory over Lincoln City last week.

The last time the two sides met, the Stags recorded an impressive 6-2 victory at the RH Academy.

Youth team coach Simon Ward has called on his players to respond positively from last week’s loss to the Bantams.

“We just have to be better everywhere,” said Ward. “The basics are hard work, passion, desire and teamwork.

“We didn’t have any of that against Bradford so if we can bring that to the party against Scunthorpe, that will be a good base for us to start with.”

Supporters are welcome to attend the game for free at the following venue: One Call Stadium, Quarry Lane, Mansfield, NG18 5DA.

Entry to the stadium will be available via the main entrance to Sandy's Bar & Kitchen, adjacent to the Ian Greaves Stand.

Supporters will be housed in the lower tier of the Ian Greaves Stand for the match.

Tea, coffee and refreshments will be available to purchase from Sandy's Bar & Kitchen for the game.
