Preview: Forest Green Rovers vs Stags

18 October 2019

Next up for the Stags is a trip to face Forest Green Rovers on Saturday 19 October (3pm). Here’s all you need to know ahead of the clash…

Defender Ryan Sweeney picked up his fifth caution of the season in Saturday’s 6-1 win over Oldham, meaning he is therefore suspended for the trip to The New Lawn.

Wing-back Hayden White is also suspended after being sent off in the Stags’ recent 1-0 win at Grimsby.

Despite the two absentees in Mansfield’s back-line for this weekend’s match, centre-back Matt Preston is available for selection after serving his four-match suspension since the red card he was given in the amber and blue’s defeat to Cambridge.

The game will come to soon for frontman Craig Davies, who is nearing a return to training with the Mansfield squad after a lengthy spell on the sidelines due to an ankle injury.

Midfielder Jacob Mellis and striker Danny Rose will continue to be assessed ahead of the game.

Rovers will be without George Williams and Dayle Grubb for the match.

Last time out, the Stags recorded an emphatic 6-1 victory over Oldham Athletic at One Call Stadium. A hat-trick from Nicky Maynard, added to by goals from Mal Benning, Dapo Afolayan and Jimmy Knowles saw the amber and blue net six times for the first time in an EFL game since beating Tranmere 6-1 in October 2002.

Forest Green looked to make it three successive league victories on Saturday, but fell to a narrow 1-0 defeat away at second-placed Exeter City.

Last time we met.png

We last faced Forest Green in February of this year at One Call Stadium. A second-half Tyler Walker strike was enough to secure the Stags a 1-0 victory.

The referee for Saturday’s match will be Ollie Yates, assisted by Robert Dabbs and Mike Desborough. The fourth official will be Mark Derrien.

Mr. Yates last took charge of a Stags’ match when we recorded a 2-1 win over Bury on Boxing Day 2018 at One Call Stadium.
