Youth preview: Burton Albion vs Stags

30 October 2019

Our under-18s will travel to St George’s Park to face Burton Albion this Friday (1pm kick-off).

The young guns will be looking to build on their thrilling FA Youth Cup triumph over Doncaster Rovers at One Call Stadium on Tuesday.

Stags fell behind early on in the contest but came roaring back to win the game 4-3, courtesy of a brace each from Rio Molyneaux and Jimmy Knowles.

Mansfield survived a nervy finish to the game, when Maison Campbell was sent off three minutes from time for an off-the-ball altercation.

The amber and blue will now look to reignite their title-challenge after slipping to third in the Youth Alliance standings following a dip in results.

League leaders Doncaster Rovers are two points above the Stags ahead of this weekend’s round of fixtures.

Friday's opponents suffered defeat at home to Chesterfield in their last fixture and sit ninth in the Youth Alliance standings.

The last time the two sides met, it was the Brewers who took all three points courtesy of a 3-2 success back in April.

Supporters are welcome to attend the game at the following venue: St George’s Park National Football Centre, Newbrough Road, Burton upon Trent, DE13 9PD.
