Ladies preview: Stags vs Oughtibridge

25 October 2019

Mansfield Town Ladies are back in action on Sunday as they look to continue their fine start to the season against Oughtibridge War Memorial Ladies at RH Academy (2pm kick-off).

The Stagettes have started their league season without defeat, so far winning twice and drawing once, and will play their opening League Cup fixture against the third-placed side in the league standings.

Their latest match saw them defeat Woodlands Ladies 2-1 with goals from Chloe Foster and Hannah Yousaf. Victory against Oughtibridge would extend their winning streak to three games.

Mansfield find themselves one place behind Oughtibridge in the league standings, although Sunday’s visitors have played a game more.

Of Oughtibridge’s four games so far this term, they have recorded three victories, one of which was a 7-2 win over Ollerton Town.

Manager Tony Palmer, looking ahead to the fixture, said: “They [Oughtibridge] are expected to be pushing for promotion. We lost 1-0 against them last season; they’ve got some players of real quality.

“We will be giving opportunities to some players who haven’t had a lot of time on the pitch to see if they can perform and compete for a regular place in the starting XI.

“It will be a tough game but we look forward to the challenge,” he added.

Entry to Sunday’s game is free of charge and can be found at the following address: The RH Academy, Woburn Lane, Mansfield, NG19 7RT.
