Tonight: Hoofers Comedy Night returns!

18 October 2019

Mansfield's finest comedy night - presented by the Stags' Hoofers comedy club - returns to One Call Stadium tonight (Friday) with an incredible line-up of comics!

In our newly refurbished Kevin Bird Suite, three amazing comedians will light up the night with with laughter and joy.

MC Carl Jones first hit the circuit in 2011 after winning the Nottingham Comedy Festival Best Newcomer in his first handful of gigs. Since then, he’s gone on to reach the BBC New Comedy Award heats, the latter stages of numerous national new act competitions and gig at some of the top comedy clubs across the UK.

Away from the stage, Carl is a regular contributor to BBC Radio’s comedy output and his writing can regularly be heard on Newsjack, The Show What You Wrote and, most recently, as additional writer on national institution The News Quiz on BBC Radio 4.

“Very funny…a breezily entertaining half-hour from a likeable comic.” – Chortle

“The audience loved him from start to finish. His natural comic story-telling ability had them hanging on every word.” – Hot Water Comedy

“Smooth and charming, he soon had the audience in the palm of his hand – and in stitches too!” – Genius PR and Events

Sean Percival appears regularly at all the top comedy clubs in the UK. He has ‘headlined’ the Glee Clubs, the Comedy Stores, the Komedias, the Stands, the last Laugh, Funhouse and the JTT Comedy Lofts. He’s performed in comedy tents at the Glastonbury, Reading, Download and Bearded Theory festivals amongst others.

“No holds barred, No punches pulled, No subjects ducked, A masterclass in comedy” - BIRMINGHAM EVENING MAIL

“He’s not wacky, He’s not surreal, He’s just bloody funny” - WHAT’S ON

Tony Burgess In the year of Our Lord Nineteen Hundred and Ninety Three, Tony Burgess won the prestigious North West Comedian Of The Year and came runner-up in So You Think You’re Funny at the Edinburgh Festival. (This is my “it was a long time ago” font – my comedy isn’t particularly subtle).

Since then he’s travelled the length and breadth of the land getting paid to shout at strangers…..Ahhhh, good old Times New Roman.

More recently Tony was nominated for best stand up and writer at the North West Comedy Awards. He’s played all the established clubs in the UK, performed as far away as Dubai and Abu Dhabi and supported household names such as Johnny Vegas on National Theatre tours. Through performing stand up, Tony’s also been given many writing and acting opportunities which he bangs on about on the other pages in a variety of exciting fonts

Briefly though, if you really want to know: Tony’s written plays for the Royal Exchange Studio Theatre in Manchester , he co-wrote the Sony award-winning Radio 4 comedy “The Nightclass” with Johnny Vegas and Tony Pitts, wrote on the first two series of BBC3 comedy “Ideal” and had his own seven part sitcom “The Visit”, which played on both BBC3 and BBC1.

I’m probably not old enough yet to be a veteran, I’ve been called a 'stalwart' and a 'regular fixture' on the Manchester comedy scene. I’m a legend in my own house, my cat thinks I’m great and my girlfriend and kids tolerate my strange comedy ways.

Don't miss this great night of comedy with three fantastic comedians.

Doors open at 7.30pm for a 8pm start and tickets are only £7 per person when bought in advance or £10 on the night.
