Hearn re-joins club as academy head of performance

25 June 2019

Former Stags’ striker Liam Hearn is back at One Call Stadium as the academy’s head of performance, we are pleased to confirm.

Working alongside the U18s and U21s coaches, Hearn will also aim to improve players in specific positions within the academy.

The 33-year-old, who was with the amber and blue for one season from 2014, had his time at the club cut short because of a knee injury.

“I’m looking forward to working hard, learning from the gaffer [John Dempster], Coops [Richard Cooper, academy manager] and the rest of the coaches at the academy,” said Hearn.

“I’ve walked into a really good academy. I’ve grown so much since my time at Mansfield and have gone into coaching now, having just finished my residential on my A licence.

“I want to repay the faith the club had in me through my injury as a player. The club supported me then and since and it’s great to come back in another capacity and help the academy grow even stronger.”
