Stags’ under-18s face their first test of the New Year this Saturday, when they host Oldham Athletic under-18s for an EFL Youth Alliance fixture at the RH Academy (12pm kick-off).
Their most recent victory came in an impressive display against Chesterfield in mid-December, where a strike from Riley O’Sullivan and two goals from Rhys Sarson gave John Dempster’s side all three points going into the winter break.
The manager and his coaching staff will be hoping Mansfield can carry the positives over into the New Year, including their exceptional scoring record - Stags have managed to find the net in each of their 19 games so far this season in all competitions.
Stags’ defensive record in the league has also been excellent of late, conceding just one goal in their previous three league encounters.
Saturday’s opponents, Oldham, come into this fixture off the back of a convincing 5-1 victory over Huddersfield Town.
Oldham also boast an impressive offensive record, and are the league’s fourth highest scorers with 24 goals to their name, whilst Stags are the league’s second highest scorers with 28.
Stags will be keen not to underestimate the challenge that Saturday’s game represents, and will be hoping to make it five wins from five as they chase down top spot in the league table.
All supporters are welcome to attend the fixture. A full address of the game's venue is as follows: The RH Academy, Woburn Lane, Mansfield, NG19 7RT.
