Mansfield Town under-18s are back in action this Saturday, when they take on Lincoln City under-18s at The RH Academy (11am kick-off).
The Stags have had a frustrating start to the season and will feel they deserve more than the one point they’ve picked up from their opening two matches.
The amber and blue fell to a 1-0 defeat at Rotherham last Saturday and now sit seventh in the EFL Youth Alliance North East Division standings.
After conceding early on against the Millers, Mansfield dominated the second-half but could not force a leveller.
Striker Jimmy Knowles had the best chance to equalise for the young Stags but saw his 79th-minute penalty saved as the hosts clung on for victory.
Mansfield will be hoping for better luck when they host The Imps, who begin their season at the RH Academy on Saturday.
The Stags lost 2-1 when they visited Lincoln in January, the last meeting between the two sides.
