Youth preview: Burton Albion vs Stags

25 April 2019

Stags' under-18s travel to face Burton Albion under-18s on Friday 26 April for their penultimate EFL Youth Alliance fixture at St. George's Park (1pm kick-off).

Mansfield sit fourth in the table heading into the game, four points adrift of leaders Doncaster Rovers with two games to play.

Last time out, the Stags saw their five-match unbeaten run come to end with a narrow 2-1 loss at home to third-place Bradford City.

In a game of two halves, the amber and blue found themselves two goals down at the break, yet could only pull one back in the second period through defender Noah Stokes.

The Stags have a chance to get back on the winning trail in Friday's fixture, yet face a stern test in the Brewers, who impressively recorded a 2-0 win over fifth-placed Hartlepool last time out.

Burton Albion currently lie sixth in the Youth Alliance standings, but will draw level with the Stags if secure a victory from Friday's match.

Mansfield last faced the Brewers way back in August, a Youth Alliance cup fixture that ended in a 3-1 away victory for the Stags.

Supporters are welcome to attend this Friday's match, which kicks off at 1pm at the following venue: Pitch 1, St. George's Park, Newborough Road, Needwood, Burton-upon-Trent, Staffordshire DE13 9PD.
