The new training facility at Woburn Lane in Pleasley will be named the RH Academy, we are pleased to confirm, as the project edges closer to completion.
The venueâs name â short for The Radford & Hymas Academy â honours the two benefactors, chairman John Radford and academy director Steve Hymas, whose funds have made the project possible.
The duoâs company - Mansfield Town developments â has supplied ÂŁ1.5m to the project, while the company was also awarded a grant of ÂŁ500,000 from the Premier League and FA Facilities Fund. The state-of-the-art facility will boast a new full-sized and floodlit 3G pitch, built to FIFA standards. Furthermore, three-full sized grass pitches and a mini-pitch will make the facility a hive of activity at weekends. The pavilion will consist of four dressing rooms, showers and associated physio rooms.
Also, a function room will be situated on the ground floor, which will include kitchen facilities to allow the room to be used by the local community for functions.
Located on the first floor will be two classrooms and offices which will be used as an education hub.
Mansfield Town chairman John Radford said: âThe opening of the new training ground will be a significant moment and a real leap forward.
âThe site and its facilities will be beneficial for many different areas of Mansfield Town Football Club as well as the local community.
âA new hub such as this will enable people to improve, progress and fulfil their aspirations. Those characteristics are at the very heart of our organisation.â
Stagsâ academy director and project manager Steve Hymas said: âWe are very proud to have built this project, not only for our young aspiring footballers, but for the whole community.
âIts legacy will be long lasting,â he added.
The facility is due to open in late September providing no delays are encountered. More details will be announced in due course.
