Reserves preview: Stags vs Rotherham United

10 September 2018

Stags' reserves begin their Central League campaign today (Tuesday) as they face Rotherham United reserves at Basford United Football Club (2pm kick-off), with free entry for Stags' fans.

Mansfield's second string finished top of the Central League North B table last season, and second in the Northern section of the Central League, below eventual winners Port Vale. Stags also stormed to a Central League Cup victory, comfortably beating Wigan 3-0 in the final back in March of this year.

As opposed to the two Northern leagues that were in operation in last season's Central League, there will just be one North League this campaign, made up of eight teams.

The teams in the Central League North are: Doncaster Rovers, Grimsby Town, Mansfield Town, Morecambe, Notts County, Port Vale, Rotherham United, Wigan Athletic.

This means our reserves will play 14 league fixtures throughout the course of the season, along with a minimum of three Central League Cup fixtures.

Tomorrow's opponents, Rotherham, finished fourth in the Central League North table last campaign. The last time Stags' reserves met the Millers was back in April, where a strong Mansfield lineup ran out 5-2 winners at Brooksby Melton College.

The squad for tomorrow's fixture is as follows: Paul Anderson, Kane Baldwin, Harry Bircumshaw, Nyle Blake, Jamie Boyle, Lewis Davies, Tom Fielding, Lewis Gibbens, Iyrwah Gooden, Jordan Graham, Jason Law, Rhys Sarson, Tyrese Sinclair, Alistair Smith, Aiden Walker, Keaton Ward.

Entry to the game is free, and supporters can find tomorrow's fixture at the following address: Basford United Football Club (3G Pitch), Greenwich Avenue, Nottingham, NG6 0LD.
