Reserves preview: Stags vs Grimsby Town

15 October 2018

Stags' reserves return to Central League action on Tuesday afternoon, when they will face Grimsby Town reserves at the new RH Academy.

Mansfield's under-18s were the first side to play at the impressive new training facility on Saturday in their Youth Alliance fixture against Hartlepool.

Stags' second string will take to the 3G surface for their fourth Central League fixture of the campaign, and go into the game sitting third in the table.

Their recent narrow 3-2 loss against Morecambe reserves was preceded by a 5-1 victory over Doncaster Rovers at Keepmoat Stadium, in which a strong Mansfield lineup was present.

The loss at Globe Arena saw a youthful Stags outfit beaten by a strong Morecambe side, a game in which Mansfield forward Iyrwah Gooden scored twice in the second half.

Despite the defeat at Morecambe, Stags still find themselves third in the table after three played, with tomorrow's opponents currently residing in seventh position.

Grimsby have played one game less than the Stags, and have recorded one loss and one draw so far this season.

The Mariners return to Central League action after almost a month without a game, with their most recent fixture being a 2-2 draw away to Wigan Athletic on Tuesday 18 September.

Supporters are welcome to attend tomorrow's match at the RH Academy, which can be found at the following address: RH Academy, Woburn Lane, Pleasley, Mansfield, NG19 7RT. The fixture will be played on the 3G pitch.
