We are pleased to learn that Stags’ supporter and boxer Nico Leivars' recently won gold in the Elite Senior King of the Ring 56kg category in Sweden.
The 19-year-old landed the title at the King Of The Ring Box Cup event in the city of Boras.
He also took the crown of Overall Best Technical Boxer at the tournament.
Wearing his trademark shorts, emblazoned with the Stags’ club crest, Nico won his first fight before defeating Sweden’s number 1 cede, who had previously knocked out his last nine opponents.
Speaking to www.mansfieldtown.net, his dad and trainer Julian Leivars, said: “It’s a great achievement for Nico. To box against the best in Europe, boxers older than him, is outstanding.”
Stags’ chairman John Radford said: “This is a great achievement by Nico, who is gathering a real following and helping put Mansfield on the map in this way.
“We’re proud of his achievements as a football club and were delighted to see him wearing the Stags’ crest during his victories.”
