Stags booked their place in the third round of the FA Youth Cup in their last fixture as they ran out 2-0 victors against Chester under the lights at One Call Stadium.
This season's academy top-scorer Jimmy Knowles opened the scoring with a second half penalty for Stags, netting his tenth goal in all competition this campaign.
Riley O’Sullivan doubled Stags’ advantage late on with a finish from close range, as John Dempster’s side held firm to record back-to-back clean sheets.
With 17 points from their opening ten games, Stags occupy fourth place in the league table, three places above Friday’s opponents, Notts County, who lie in seventh.
