Stags looking to recruit promising young players

16 May 2018

Mansfield Town are looking to recruit talented young footballers for our Mansfield Performance Group, which will take place at the brand-new, state-of-the-art Woburn Lane Training Facility in September 2018.

Players must be in Year 11 at school, with their GCSEs coming up in the summer to be eligible.

Trials will take place on Thursday 31 May at The Brunts Academy in Mansfield, and those who make the squad will be enrolled on a football and education programme based at One Call Stadium and Woburn Lane Training Facility.

"We are committed to locally based footballers and offering them a path to elite level football and education."

Simon Ward, lead performance coach

Simon Ward, the lead performance coach at Mansfield Town, believes that the programme can open up several avenues for promising young players.

“We are committed to locally based footballers and offering them a path to elite level football and education,” he said.

“Progression beyond this course could be anything from professional football or under-21 football at Brooksby Melton College, to university level education or a career in physiotherapy and sports therapy.”

Players are required to report to The Brunts Academy at 9.30am, ready for a 10.00am start. All players will need suitable footwear for a 3G surface, so no metal studs! They will also need to bring drinks bottles and suitable clothing for weather conditions.

An application form can be downloaded by clicking here. Please send all application forms to Simon at simon.ward@mansfieldtown.net.

Trials will take place at the following address: The Brunts Academy, Bath Lane, Mansfield, Nottinghamshire, NG18 2BZ.
