Youth preview: Bradford City vs Stags

14 March 2018

Mansfield Town's under 18s will be looking to build on their 8-1 win over Scunthorpe United when they travel to Rawdon Meadows to take on Bradford City on Saturday (11.00am kick-off).

The free-scoring Stags will be in a confident mood when they travel to Yorkshire after last week's impressive win which maintained their position at the summit of the EFL Youth Alliance Table.

A hat-trick from striker Iyrwah Gooden and goals from striker Rhys Sarson, defender Lewis Gibbens, midfielder Keaton Ward, centre-half Aiden Walker and a first competitive Stags' goal for recent recruit Tyrese Sinclair gave Stags a resounding win.

Mansfield have a four-point cushion over second-placed Rotherham United and are five points clear of Oldham Athletic in third.

Stags have won seven and drawn one of their last ten games in all competitions with the two defeats coming in penalty shoot-out losses in cup competitions. They also boast the joint best goals scored and have conceded least in the league.

Bradford City lie eighth in the EFL Youth Alliance and have lost four of their last five games including a heavy 5-1 defeat against Chesterfield.

The Bantams are also out of both cup competitions, exiting the FA Youth Cup in the first round against Blackpool and were unable to qualify for the knock-out stages of the EFL Youth Alliance Cup.

The last time the teams met was 18 November at Rainworth Miners Welfare with Stags winning 1-0 thanks to Riley O'Sullivan's 75th minute penalty.

With games against four of the current top-six teams still to come, three points for Mansfield on Saturday would put Stags in a strong position for the title run-in.

For supporters wanting to attend the game, the venue address is as follows:

Rawdon Meadows
Harrogate Road
