We recently hosted the Armchair Club’s annual charity quiz fundraiser in the 1861 Suite at One Call Stadium, an evening which raised £3,200 for local sportspeople.
On Monday 06 March, 18 local businesses competed in a Question of Sport charity quiz, including a table from the Stags, and all teams enjoyed a three-course meal before competing for the coveted trophy which has been played for since 1999.
The Stags’ hospitality team prepared a served the meal before compere for the evening Stewart Nicholson hosted various fundraisers which helped to raise the £3,200.
The quiz, as always, was a very competitive affair, with local firm Collins Wealth Management winning in the final round to take home the trophy. Lifelong Stags’ fan Mike Collins and his son Ben led the team to victory on the evening.
The Armchair Club was created over 35 years ago by a small group of Mansfield businessmen to raise much-needed funds to donate to able bodied and disabled local sportspeople in need of additional financial support.
The organisation have raised and donated over £200,000 to local sportspeople over the years. Its success has been achieved through the generosity and support of local people attending the fundraising events.
The objective is to help the club raise funds to be invested back into the local community to give talented young people an opportunity to grow and develop their own sporting abilities.
Grants are available to young sportspeople and clubs who are based in the Mansfield and Ashfield area and the club’s contact details can be found on the Armchair Club website: www.armchairclub.org
