Match preview: Forest Green v Stags

23 March 2018

Stags travel to Gloucestershire this weekend in another big game in Sky Bet League Two. Here's all you need to know ahead of the clash...

Defender David Mirfin will again miss out as he continues his recovery from knee surgery.

A trio of players will continue to be assessed before Saturday's match: Midfielder Alfie Potter, defender Zander Diamond and midfielder Jacob Mellis.

Forest Green boss Mark Cooper hopes to have top-scorer Christian Doidge back for the Sky Bet League Two clash with Mansfield.

Striker Doidge, who has scored 21 goals in all competitions, has missed Rovers' last three matches with an ankle problem but could be fit to return.

Defender Dan Wishart also faces a late fitness test having missed the mid-week loss at Crewe.

Stags are unbeaten in their last six League Two outings - a run which has seen two wins and four draws.

New manager David Flitcroft has overseen three successive 1-1 draws in his first trio of games against Lincoln City, Colchester United and away to Notts County.

Mansfield are in fifth position, six points away from the automatic places but with a game in hand over teams above them.

Forest Green, in 21st position, are six points above the relegation zone. They have lost their last three fixtures, however, had previously enjoyed a five game winning streak at the New Lawn.

The last league meeting between the sides was back in August of last year as second-half goals from Danny Rose and Paul Anderson gave Stags their first win of the season.

The match, Mansfield's first home game of the current campaign, was watched by a crowd of 3,826.

OVERALL RECORD: W - 8| D - 2| L - 3

Antony Coggins will take charge of his 29th fixture this season, flanked by Ian Smedley and Ian Rathbone. Adrian Quelch will be the fourth official.

Mr Coggins was most recently in charge of Crewe's home defeat to Coventry last Saturday in Sky Bet League Two.

Tickets must be purchased in advance of Saturday's fixture as Rovers have marked the game as all-ticket for Stags' fans.
