Loanees continuing to excel

14 March 2018

Nine Stags' loanees have been in action over the past week and supporters can now find out how they've played for their respective clubs...

George Taft (Cambridge United)

Centre-half George Taft has extended his good run of form by completing 90 minutes in Saturday’s 1-1 draw away to Wycombe Wanderers. Chairboys’ frontman Bayo Akinfenwa put the home side ahead in the first half. Cambridge hit back and Taft had an opportunity to snatch a point 15 minutes from time, but his sweetly-struck volley bounced wide. However, the U’s got the equaliser their pressure deserved deep into stoppage time when Paul Lewis smashed the ball home.

Jack Thomas (Tamworth)

Midfielder Jack Thomas has been an unused substitute for both of the Lambs’ last two games. They lost 3-0 to Southport on Saturday before holding Darlington 1883 to a 0-0 draw on Tuesday night.

Calum Butcher (Billericay Town)

Each of Billericay’s last two games – against Tonbridge Angels on Saturday and Staines on Tuesday – have been postponed due to the pitch being deemed unfit for play.

Alistair Smith (Loughborough Dynamo)

Midfielder Alistair Smith continued his excellent run of form last night as he scored his third goal in his last two games. He bagged a brace in Dynamo’s 4-1 win away to Shepshed last week and then scored a fourth minute opener against Peterborough Sports last night. Tolani Omotola made it 2-0 to the away side early in the second half before Jordan MacLeod scored a late consolation for Sports.

Lewis Collins (North Ferriby)

After scoring on his Ferriby debut, midfielder Lewis Collins completed another 90 minutes in his loan side’s 2-2 draw with Nuneaton Town on Saturday. Bottom side North Ferriby have won one and drawn one of their two games since Collins’ arrival last month.

AJ George (North Ferriby)

Tricky attacking midfielder AJ George had an instant impact on his North Ferriby debut, winning a 71st minute penalty. The former Oxford United man was handed a starting berth and impressed for his loan side, before helping rescue a point. George broke into the area, only to be fouled by Luther Wildin and Bobby Johnson dispatched the resulting penalty to make it 2-2.

Jordan Graham (Hednesford Town)

Frontman Jordan Graham completed 90 minutes in Hednesford’s 2-0 defeat away to lowly Marine on Saturday. He could do nothing as Town’s winless league run was extended to four games, however he did captain Stags’ reserves in Tuesday’s 3-0 win over Morecambe. Although the striker didn’t get on the scoresheet, he led the line with maturity and help the ball up convincingly.

Jason Law (Hednesford Town)

Forward Jason Law was also named in the starting XI for Hednesford’s 2-0 defeat, but was replaced after 57 minutes. The former Carlton Town man also played in the reserves’ 3-0 win over Morecambe, completing 70 minutes before being replaced by Sam Jackson.

Zayn Hakeem (Granthan Town)

Frontman Zayn Hakeem was named on the bench for Grantham’s Evo-Stik clash with Nantwich Town on Tuesday night. The Stags’ frontman played the final half-an-hour but couldn’t find a breakthrough as the match finished 0-0.
