Mansfield Town reserves take on Grimsby Town reserves today, in a clash that could see the Stags rise to the top of the Central League North B table.
Stags will be in high spirits as they approach the game coming off the back of a 3-0 victory over Wigan Athletic in the Central League Cup final.
Goals from Jimmy Spencer, Lee Angol and Ricky Miller fired the Stags to victory over the Latics, which sat well with first team boss David Flitcroft, who utilised all three players in the game against Forest Green at the weekend.
Mansfield reserves currently sit second in the Central League North B table, but are just two points behind leaders Rotherham with two games in hand.
Stags cruised to a 5-0 victory the last time these sides met, with goals coming from Angol, Jacob Mellis and Paul Digby.
Although today’s squad will be much more youthful than that of the sides’ previous encounter, the Stags will be hoping to produce a similar result.
Grimsby Town have played one game more than the Stags, but find themselves with the same points total, meaning today’s victors will climb to the summit of the table.
The squad for the game is likely to be: Xavier Sundby, Keaton Mars, Lewis Gibbens, Henri Wilder, Dan Purvin, Aiden Walker, Steve Johnson, Rhys Sarson, Harry Bircumshaw, Jason Law, Keaton Ward, Alistair Smith, Kieran Harrison, Cam Healey, Iyrwah Gooden and Tyrese Sinclair.
