Match preview: Morecambe vs Stags

26 January 2018

Mansfield Town travel to the Globe Arena to face Morecambe on Saturday (27 January, 3:00pm kick-off) and this is your definitive guide to the fixture.

Hayden White will serve the first of a three-match ban, following his sending off last weekend against Cheltenham Town.

Defender David Mirfin is still recovering from knee surgery which has kept him out of action since December.

Manager Steve Evans has confirmed that Jacob Mellis has suffered a ‘slight tear’ in his hamstring. The midfielder was forced off in Saturday’s win against Cheltenham and the gaffer has confirmed he will be out for two to three weeks.

For the opposition, forward Callum Lang may have fully recovered from ankle ligament damage. He was on the bench for the match against Newport in midweek.

Stags excellent form in the league has helped solidify their place in the Sky Bet League Two play-off pack.

Stags' showed willingness and grit to come back from behind twice against Cheltenham last Saturday, with winger CJ Hamilton scoring an injury-time winner to extend their unbeaten record to seven league games as Mansfield recorded a 3-2 win.

The home side's last match in Sky Bet League Two ended with a 1-1 draw against Newport County on Tuesday night.

Stags hosted the Shrimps in December, beating them 2-1. Goals from forwards Kane Hemmings and Danny Rose secured victory over the visiting side just before Christmas at One Call Stadium.

OVERALL RECORD: W - 6 | D - 0 | L - 5

Sebastian Stockbridge will officiate Saturday’s fixture and he will be assisted by Darren Stain and Mark Cunliffe. Iain Siddall will be the fourth official.
