Youth preview: Stags vs York City

21 February 2018

Mansfield Town’s under 18s can extend their one-point lead at the top of the EFL Youth Alliance when they return to competitive action for the first time in a month this Saturday against York City (kick-off 11.00am).

The Stags’ last league outing was on 19 January when they ran out 2-0 winners at home to bottom-of-the-league Hartlepool United.

Goals from Iyrwah Gooden and Jacob Dumbleton were enough to give the Stags their third consecutive clean sheet win at the Worksop Van Hire Stadium.

Mansfield will be looking to complete the league double over York, following a comfortable 2-0 victory when the Stags travelled up the M1 in late October.

The Stags go into the game on the back of a six-game unbeaten run, including five wins and just one goal conceded during that period.

York currently sit 11th in the league table, two places off bottom, however they will be coming into the game full of confidence, having won their last four in a row, conceding just one.

On the other hand, the Minstermen did endure a tough start to the season, losing eight of their first ten league games, including a run of seven straight defeats.

Supporters are welcome to watch the encounter with food and beverages available. Car parking is also is free around the ground.
