What's on in the Sandy Pate Sports Bar this week?

26 February 2018

The Sandy Pate Sports Bar is the best place to watch this week’s live televised football, plus there’s the opportunity to take part in the poker night, quiz night and much more!

On TUESDAY, there is a double-header of live football! The Emirates FA Cup returns to the Sandy Pate Sports Bar, with Swansea City hosting Sheffield Wednesday in one of two fifth round replays due to be shown live on our television screens this week.

The Swans have needed a replay in every round they’ve played so far this season, and progressed to this stage of the competition following the 8-1 thrashing of Stags’ local rivals Notts County at the Liberty Stadium. Kick-off is at 8.05pm.

The other match on our screens on TUESDAY sees Shrewsbury Town host Stags’ Sky Bet League Two counterparts Yeovil Town in the second semi-final of the Checkatrade Trophy. Despite struggling in the league, the Glovers will be full of confidence as they head north to the Sky Bet League One promotion-chasers, having already taken one third tier scalp in the form of Fleetwood Town.

Kick-off is at 7.45pm, and the winners of this tie will face Lincoln City at Wembley Stadium. In the event of a draw, there will be no extra-time and the match will go straight to a penalty shootout.

On WEDNESDAY, there is more Emirates FA Cup action with the second fifth round replay between Premier League giants Tottenham Hotspur and Sky Bet League One’s rock-bottom side Rochdale.

Despite there being 63 places between the two clubs in the English Football League pyramid, Dale were rewarded with a trip to Wembley Stadium after holding Spurs to a 2-2 draw at Spotland in the original tie following an equaliser deep into injury time.

Also on WEDNESDAY evening, our weekly poker night will be taking place. It costs just £5 to buy-in and begins at 8.00pm.

There is Premier League action on THURSDAY evening, which will see a repeat of Sunday’s Carabao Cup final between Arsenal and Manchester City at the Emirates Stadium. Arsène Wenger’s side will be looking for a drastic improvement in his side’s performance following a 3-0 defeat against the Premier League leaders, while City could increase their lead at the top of the table to 16 points with victory on Thursday. Kick-off is at 7.45pm.

THURSDAY is also quiz night at the Sandy Pate Sports Bar with an 8.30pm start. As always, there will be a range of topics covered, from general knowledge to history, and sport to TV & film. There's something for everyone so assemble your team and get quizzing!

We will also be hosting a game of Sticky 13s on THURSDAY, so there’s plenty to get your teeth into. Simply be the first person to have all your cards read out to be the winner of over £500.

On FRIDAY, the live action returns to the Sky Bet Championship with a clash between play-off chasers Middlesbrough and Leeds United at the Riverside Stadium. The hosts moved to within one place and two points of the top six following Saturday’s thrilling 3-3 draw away to bottom side Sunderland in the Tyne-Wear derby.

Leeds also narrowed the gap on the play-offs over the weekend with a 1-0 victory over Brentford at Elland Road – a first win under new manager Paul Heckingbottom.

Visitors to the Sandy Pate Sports Bar can purchase a bottle of Prosecco for just £10 between 6.00pm and 9.00pm on FRIDAY as part of our fantastic Fizz Friday offer!

The bar is located towards the back of the Ian Greaves Stand at One Call Stadium, with plenty of free parking.

We'll be serving food every day this week from 12.00pm until 9.00pm.
