Reserves preview: Stags vs Grimsby Town

19 February 2018

Mansfield Town’s reserves will take on Grimsby Town in their next Central League fixture at Rainworth Miners Welfare on Tuesday (20 February, 1.00pm kick-off).

Stags return to action after last week’s scheduled match away to Morecambe was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.

Gaffer Steve Evans is likely to utilise his first team squad for the match, handing minutes to players who have lacked game-time in recent weeks in Sky Bet League Two.

Our last outing in the Central League – away to Port Vale – ended in a 6-0 defeat, however Stags fielded an inexperienced side against a senior Vale outfit.

Prior to that, Stags had won back-to-back games in the Central League and progressed to the final of the Central League Cup thanks to a stunning 3-2 win over Rotherham United.

Frontman Omari Sterling-James scored a superb hat-trick against the Millers, as Stags were forced to come from behind and then find an injury time winner to progress to the final.

Stags have six points from their four games, whilst Grimsby have nine from their five fixtures.

Last time out, the Mariners lost 2-1 away to Hartlepool United in the Central League.

Supporters are welcome to watch the match at Rainworth, at the following admission prices:

Adults: £3
Concessions: £1

The venue address is as follows:
