MacDonald is January Player of the Month

1 February 2018

Combative midfielder Alex MacDonald has been voted as the supporters' Player of the Month for January in an online poll.

The former Oxford United man received 38 percent of the overall vote after a string of stand-out performances in a month which Stags progressed through unbeaten in Sky Bet League Two.

After recovering from an injury which kept him out of the first month of the season, MacDonald has cemented himself as a vital part of the Stags' side, recently making a central midfield position his own.

Predominantly a winger when he arrived at the club, the 26-year-old has adapted to a central role, bringing steel and creativity to the middle of the Stags' midfield.

The midfielder, described by manager Steve Evans as currently performing at the level of a Championship player, has also played in an attacking midfield role, just behind the front line.

Winger CJ Hamilton, who is currently enjoying his best extended run of form since joining the club, came second with 24 percent, whilst top scorer Danny Rose received ten percent, finishing third.

Thank you to everyone who voted.
