Youth preview: Stags vs Lincoln City

29 August 2018

Stags’ under-18s are back in league action this Saturday as they host Lincoln City under-18s at Brooksby Melton College (12pm kick-off).

Mansfield come into the game off the back of a superb 3-1 victory over Burton Albion in the Youth Alliance Cup last time out.

Jimmy Knowles has made a strong start to the season and added to his season’s goal tally by netting a brace, whilst Kamen Cashmore, who has been equally impressive, was on target in what was an excellent performance from the amber and blue.

Stags have won, lost and drawn in their opening three games of the new league season, meaning they currently occupy fifth place in the table on four points.

Saturday sees them continue their pursuit of a fourth successive league title, and they will be hoping to take all three points from the game, to propel them towards the top of the table once again.

John Dempster’s side have played some good football in their opening fixtures, having scored nine goals from four games in all competitions.

Lincoln City will be hungry for their first win of the new campaign, having collected one point from their opening two matches; a 1-1 draw against Grimsby Town last time out, following their opening day defeat, where they were beaten 4-0 away to Rotherham United.

All supporters are welcome, and those who wish to attend the game, please see the full address details here: Brooksby Melton College, Brooksby, Melton Mowbray, Leicestershire, LE14 2LJ (Follow signs for ‘Sports Department’).
