Match Preview: Stags vs Crewe Alexandra

7 April 2018

Stags welcome Crewe Alexandra to One Call Stadium this Saturday (3.00pm kick-off), here’s all you need to know ahead of the game…

Defender David Mirfin will miss out again as he continues to recover from knee surgery. Stags’ boss David Flitcroft confirmed this week that the centre-back will miss the remainder of the season.

Flitcroft also said he has hopes for top scorer Danny Rose to feature in this Saturday’s game.

“We just have to keep hoping that for Saturday he might be able to play a part,” he said in his news conference on Thursday. “He’s on end-stage rehab, and we just have to hope we get significant improvement on it.”

Left-back Mal Benning will miss the game through suspension following his red card against Accrington Stanley on Good Friday.

Crewe are hoping to get defender Perry Ng back to full fitness for the game, as he missed out on the 2-2 draw with Port Vale on Monday due to a calf injury he picked up in last Friday’s defeat to Barnet.

Crewe will assess the fitness of Ng and left-back Zoumana Bakayogo ahead of the game at One Call Stadium this Saturday.

The last time we faced Crewe was on the opening day of this season, in which the Stags came from behind to draw 2-2.

Crewe led the game twice thanks to a brace from Chris Porter, but goals from Danny Rose and David Mirfin meant the Stags took a hard-fought point back to One Call Stadium.

The referee for the game will be Richard Clark, who will be assisted by Paul Graham and Mark Cunliffe. The fourth official will be Richard Wild.

The last time Mr. Clark took charge of a Stags game was in March 2017, in our 2-0 loss at home to Plymouth Argyle.
