Youth preview: Wrexham vs Stags

13 September 2017

Mansfield Town's under 18s will take on Wrexham in their second EFL Youth Alliance Cup fixture on Saturday 16 September (12.00pm).

The youth team will be aiming to maintain their unbeaten start to the season in all competitions, which was extended to six games with the 0-0 draw at home Doncaster Rovers on Saturday.

In their last Youth Alliance Cup outing, academy manager John Dempster's side defeated Burton Albion 3-1 thanks to goals from midfielder Keaton Ward and forwards Riley O'Sullivan and Nyle Blake.

Prior to last week's stalemate with Rovers, the under 18s defeated Hartlepool United 2-0, courtesy of goals from defender Lewis Gibbens and striker Rhys Sarson.

Wrexham ply their trade in the EFL Youth Alliance North West division and they have also enjoyed an unbeaten start, recording three wins and two draws.

After beginning the season with a 2-1 win at home to Bury, they were held to consecutive 1-1 draws by Carlisle United and Preston North End.

However, they began to find their groove after that and won 3-0 away to Shrewsbury Town before thumping Morecambe 4-1 last week.

They currently occupy third spot in the division, but possess a game-in-hand over the two sides above them.

Supporters are welcome to attend the fixture, if they so wish, at the following venue:
