Match preview: Lincoln City vs Stags (1pm)

15 September 2017

Mansfield Town travel to Sincil Bank to take on Lincoln City on Saturday (1.00pm kick-off) and this is your in-depth guide to the fixture.

Stags' boss Steve Evans told the local media on Thursday morning that 'one or two' players picked up knocks in Tuesday's draw with Wycombe Wanderers, but wasn't willing to disclose who they are or what they're suffering from.

The Imps will be without defender Sean Long after he came off in last week's victory over Stevenage following a strong tackle. The Republic of Ireland under 21 international will be missing for four-six weeks.

Meanwhile, Lincoln could welcome back former Stags' strikers Matt Rhead and Matt Green after the former was rested for their mid-week win over Forest Green Rovers and the latter served a one-match suspension.

Stags are now four games unbeaten in Sky Bet League Two after picking up four points from our last two home games against Grimsby Town and Wycombe Wanderers.

Prior to that, Stags secured draws against Luton Town and Carlisle United, respectively.

A brace from frontman Lee Angol and a strike from defender Krystian Pearce in addition to an own goal ensured Stags thumped Grimsby Town 4-1 at One Call Stadium last week.

They then followed that up with a 0-0 draw with the Chairboys in treacherous conditions on Tuesday night.

Danny Cowley's side are also four games unbeaten, a run which has included three wins and a draw.

They beat 10-man Carlisle United 4-1 at the end of August, before securing a 0-0 draw with Luton Town.

The Imps' last two games - both away from home - have ended in victory.

They came from behind to beat Stevenage 2-1 last week thanks to a Sean Raggett goal and a penalty from former Stags' frontman Ollie Palmer.

An effort from winger Harry Anderson then ensured the Imps emerged 1-0 victors from Tuesday's League Two clash away at Forest Green Rovers.

The last meeting occurred just three weeks ago in the first round of the Checkatrade Trophy when the Imps ran out 3-1 winners at One Call Stadium.

Stags went ahead in the first half through winger Alfie Potter, who finished an excellent free-flowing move by stroking it past Paul Farman from the edge of the box.

Defender Elliott Whitehouse got the Imps back on level terms with a header just before the break, then striker Ollie Palmer converted from close range to put Lincoln ahead in the second period.

Stags were chasing the game in the dying minutes and sent goalkeeper Bobby Olejnik up for a corner.

Lincoln cleared the danger and second half substitute Matt Green received the ball and slotted it into an empty net.

HEAD-TO-HEAD record: W: 28 | D: 19 | L: 25

Robert Jones will officiate the fixture and he will be asssited by Ken Haycock and Paul Thompson. James Wilson will be the fourth official.

Mr Jones last officiated a Stags' match in April 2017, when we ran out 1-0 victors against Wycombe Wanderers at Adams Park.

Stags' allocation of 1,409 tickets were snapped up by supporters within days of going on sale.

The fixture is ALL-TICKET and under no circumstances will Stags' fans be able to purchase tickets on the day. Please do not travel without a ticket.

As of Thursday afternoon, the Imps had around 50 tickets left for the match.

The usual parking area for Sincil Bank is closed tomorrow due to the September Fair, we have been informed this morning. There are many car parks in the city.

Stags' fans are welcome to drink pre-match at The Square Sail on Brayford Wharf Nth LN11YW
