Match preview: Barnet vs Stags (8.00pm kick-off)

17 October 2017

Mansfield Town travel to the Hive Stadium to face Barnet on Tuesday evening (17 October, 8.00pm kick-off) and this is your comprehensive guide to the fixture.

Winger Alfie Potter is back in contention for the encounter after he came through two days' training unscathed.

Midfielder Joel Byrom and defender Zander Diamond will both still be missing with foot and groin injuries, respectively.

The only potential absentee for the hosts is midfielder Mauro Vilhete, who is recovering from an illness which forced him to miss Saturday's defeat to Notts County.

Striker John Akinde, however, is certainly out with a hamstring strain.

Both sides will be looking to bounce back from defeats over the weekend.

Stags were defeated 3-1 by Swindon Town at One Call Stadium after losing 2-0 away to Colchester United in their previous match.

The Bees haven't won since they emerged as 3-1 victors over Cambridge United on 09 September.

Since then, they've lost five and drawn three of their eight matches.

Their most recent fixture ended in a 2-1 defeat away to Notts County on Saturday.

Stags triumphed 2-0 in the last meeting at the Hive in February 2017.

Sheffield United loanee Ben Whiteman put the Stags ahead in the first half with a well-placed effort from the edge of the box.

The visitors were in the box-seat and they had the chance to double their lead in the second period.

Barnet's Ricardo Santos tripped Peterborough United loanee Shaq Coulthirst - now permanently with the Bees - in the box and the centre-forward picked himself up to confidently dispatch the penalty.

HEAD-TO-HEAD record: W: 9 | D: 10 | L: 7

Craig Hicks will be the referee for the fixture and he will be assisted by Andrew Aylott and Louis Marks. Nigel Lugg will be the fourth official.

Mr Hicks has never officiated the Stags, only making the step up to the EFL this season.
