Travel guide: Shaw Lane AFC

2 November 2017

We travel to Evo-Stik Premier side Shaw Lane AFC in the First Round of the Emirates FA Cup on Saturday (04 November, 12.30pm kick-off) and this is your comprehensive guide ahead of the trip.

The clash against the Ducks will be shown live on BT Sport from Sheerien Park, a ground with a capacity of just 2,000 – including 150 seats.

Supporters who are opting to drive to South Yorkshire should use the postcode: S71 3NW, which will take you to North Royds Wood, situated next to Sheerien Park.

To get there by car, head north on the M1 and take exit 37 towards Barnsley. Look for 'Wakefield A61' signposts and Athersley is situated around three miles from Barnsley town centre on the A61.

At New Lodge traffic lights, turn right onto Newstead Road, go over two roundabouts and then turn right at third island onto Stoney Royd.

Supporters then need to go over two mini roundabouts where you will reach North Royds Wood, the matchday parking facility, which costs £2 per car.

Away parking is at the North end of the ground and Stags' fans need to enter the ground via the North turnstiles, which will be clearly marked.

The Ducks will be installing a temporary stand to house Stags' fans at Saturday's match.

The nearest pub to Sheerien Park is The Eastfield Arms, located on Wakefield Road. This is a three-minute drive from the Ducks' home ground, or a 15-minute walk.

Food and drink will be available in the away section of the ground, whilst any disabled supporters wishing to use toilet facilities should make themselves known to a steward who will direct them to the appropriate facility.

Supporters could use the national rail service to travel to the match, but this will take approximately two-and-a-half hours. The best train to catch will be the 9.10am service from Mansfield Woodhouse, which reaches Barnsley at 11.42am, via one change at Nottingham.

A taxi or bus will then be required to reach Sheerien Park, taking approximately 15 minutes.

After arriving at Barnsley interchange, supporters should get the bus towards Ollerton Road, disembarking at the Athersley stop.

The easiest way to get to the game is with our official supporters' club, the Stags Supporters' Association.

The SSA travel to every first team match and you can join them! They will be departing the One Call Stadium car park at 10.15am and prices are as follows:

All members: £10
Non-members: £15

The SSA's booking hotline is: 07967 689597.

Please do not book a space on the coach unless you are in possession of a valid match ticket.

The match will be broadcast live on BT Sport from 12noon.
