Reserves preview: York City vs Stags

6 November 2017

Mansfield Town's reserves return to Central League action on Tuesday 07 November when they face York City at Bootham Crescent (1.00pm kick-off).

The match will take place at York's home ground and we will be providing live updates throughout the afternoon via our twitter feed (twitter.com/mansfieldtownfc).

Stags have only played one Central League match this season, a 1-0 defeat to Rotherham United in September.

Since then, Stags' second string have played two Central League Cup matches, both of which ended in victories.

They defeated a young Burton Albion side 4-0 at St George's Park, with striker Danny Rose bagging a brace, whilst midfielder Jacob Mellis and left-back Mal Benning also got on the score-sheet.

Stags' first match of the season on 'home turf' at Rainworth Miners Welfare also resulted in a victory, as striker Lee Angol grabbed a brace in a 2-0 win over Grimsby Town.

Manager Steve Evans has previously used the reserves' games to increase the match minutes of members of his squad who haven't featured in the first team in the weeks preceding the fixtures and he could do the same tomorrow.

The Minstermen have only played one reserve match this season and that ended in defeat. They hosted Port Vale at Wiggington Road and the Valiants ran out 3-1 winners.

We will be providing blow-by-blow updates on our twitter feed (@mansfieldtownfc) and a match report will be published on mansfieldtown.net after full-time.
