Stags to face Guiseley in FA Cup

14 November 2017

We will face Vanarama National outfit Guiseley at home in the FA Cup second round after the Lions set-up the tie this evening against the odds.

The Yorkshire club beat Accrington 4-3 on penalties following a 1-1 scoreline after extra time in a gripping first round replay at the Wham Stadium.

In normal time, Guiseley were reduced to ten men in first half stoppage time after Chris M'Boungou was shown a second yellow card.

Stanley's Sean McConville put the hosts ahead just two minutes after the break before John Rooney levelled the contest in the 79th minute.

But after scores remained level after extra time, Guiseley recorded a 4-3 win in a penalty shootout to book their passage into the second round for the first time in their history.

In an ironic twist, we will welcome back the club's previous two managers to One Call Stadium, with Guiseley boss Paul Cox and his assistant Adam Murray set to return to Mansfield for the first time since their respective departures.

The second round tie has been scheduled for Saturday 02 December 2017, though the club will await confirmation of this date from the Football Association.
